About the Centre
The Attica Region Social Welfare Centre (KKPPA) is an umbrella institutional body under the control and supervision of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family. Its role is twofold, as it operates as a hospital providing the complete range of healthcare services to specific groups of patients, as well as an organisation active in awareness-raising and education in foster care, adoption and child protection. The Centre is responsible for the operation of 3 Structures for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in Attica (in West & East Attica and Voula), 4 child protection Structures (“I Mitera”, Agia Varvara Children’s Town, Penteli Convalescent Home, Agios Andreas Children’s Town), and 1 Children’s Development Centre (“Michalineio”). The Centre’s work is supported by partner organisations and institutions that enhance the integrity of the operation and the initiatives undertaken by the Centre’s Structures and include the Ministry of the Interior, the General Secretariat of Information Systems, the Transparency Program initiative (www.diavgeia.gov.gr), the Greek Ombudsman, the Greek Deputy Ombudsman for Children’s Rights, the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities, the national repository of data published by central government, local authorities and public bodies (www.data.gov.gr), the “Syzefxis” National Public Administration Network (www.syzefxis.gov.gr), the Public e-Procurement Portal (www.prometheus.gov.gr), and the Registry of Public Websites and Applications (MIDISEF).
